The characters were all regular people who were alone in the wilderness (one was camping, one was on military deployment, one was suicidal) who each happened upon a buried alien mecha that psychically bonded with them. Could be military, could be Chosen Ones, could be fighting aliens or alien mecha, could be crimefighters, coukd be fighting Old Ones or Terminator-types or criminals in mecha.īack in the 80's, Dark Horse Comics put out a short-lived series called, appropriately enough, Mecha. Think of any other type of game you'd run, except that the characters are in big fighty robots. Mecha can be walking tanks, or fast cars with big guns, or superheroic protectors. No one wants to sit around for 2-3 sessions going pew-pew with a rifle when everyone else is laser-swording, missle-clouding, Buster-beaming away. How does that impact the story and gameplay? Can the characters without active mecha do anything useful or fun during this time? then you are going to have to expect one or more players to eventually have damaged or destroyed mecha. If your game system allows the mecha to be wrecked based on the throw of the dice. (I could see trying to do a long running Battletech game where you have a mercenary company and pilots shifting in and out over time, but that's the only example that immediately comes to mind.)Ĥ. Trying to run it as an infinitely long ongoing campaign will fall apart, because the genre really doesn't support it. That might be "fight the big bad" (well, that's usually it) but it can also be "finally deal with your relationship drama" (Macross) or "don't deal with your relationship drama" (Evangelion) or "Oh god this is an ugly messy shootout outside of our mechs and this is all going to hell" (Aldnoah Zero) etc.įigure out what kinds of endings fit for your subgenre and think about how long the game will probably run to get there. Make sure the genre you want works with the system you have. This is very different than playing Mekton Z, where you're counting hexes and damage boxes. Half of the action and drama took place outside of the mecha. This is totally non-tactical, but it worked great for the 80s sort of elemental based combiner robots space opera we wanted to do. ![]() Last mecha game I ran with Prime Time Adventures. Based on those tropes + the system you are using, figure out what the focus of play is going to be. Give the players an episode or two of anime to watch to make sure everyone knows what KIND of game this is going to be.Ģ. The big rocket punch Manzinger Z mecha show is not like the emo mind-break Evangelion show. ![]() Figure out your subgenre of mecha and make sure the group knows what it's about! Still they're enforcing stuff that still ruins the country's economic side unfortunately but oh well.1. Puerto Rico is fucking garbage when it comes to economic state so I'm pretty much fine without enforcing stuff or laws like these. No thanks man I'm fine with my corrupted country :^)great thing living in shit country no law can be enforced lol Are you sure on that regard? :oI'd bet my life on it, but my life is almost worthless since I watch anime.Īctually I'm doing nothing other than watching stuff on the internet so.move to germany and you'll be a better person ![]() I won't deny that I watch on illegal streams so.It's a known fact that anime directly correlates to mental illness.Įhh I dunno. Heck PR has shit shows and all and if they tried to enforce something like that I would rather be a pirate :T even though I am. Its a form of entertainment so him not watching stuff even if it isn't as very constant its still gonna be a pain in the ass. I'm still pretty sure this won't be relevant for non-licensed series since there simply is noone who would pay lawyers to seek out people who watch stuff that nobody has licensed in germany anyway. And that was like 8 years ago.Į: okay so apparently this new law makes sure that streaming is treated the same way instead of being a grey zone. I remember some of my friends stocking up on downloads before they went to study to germany for a year because they deemed it too risky to illegally down TV series and movies over there. ![]() Pretty sure germany has been strict in that regard for a good while now. Just found this, this definitely looks serious
